Watershed characteristics affecting surface runoff from forest roads

Purpose

Every other cross-drain culvert on the roads within the Oak Creek watershed will be instrumented with crest gauges to record peak flow through culverts during rain events. Rainfall will also be measured using tipping bucket rain gauges. These instrument

Consequences of Canopy Interception for Stability of Slopes

Purpose

For field validation of a model that will describe the short term variation in canopy storage of rainfall. The goal is to determine 1)the contribution of canopy interception of rainfall to stability of slopes by its effects on short term water balance on

The effects of juvenile cutthroat trout on survival, growth, and behaviors of Pacific giant salamander larvae and factors contributing to their coexistence in small streams

Purpose

Two aspects of behavioral interactions between cutthroat trout and Pacific giant salamander larvae will be investigated in artificial pools placed in the stream channel. The first experiment will test palatability of salamanders to trout. Ind. Trout wil

Measurement and volume of water flowing in road ditches

Purpose

Eight flumes will be installed within the ditches to catch and measure volume of water flowing in the ditches. Installation of flumes includes digging a hole in the ditch to set in the flume and then filling back in.
