Phellinus Site Hazard

Purpose

The rate of growth of Phellinus weirii along roots to be measured for 2 years, then all inoculated material will be eradicated. 20 trees innoculated.

Chemical content of western red cedar

Purpose

This project is a study of the within-tree variation of thujaplien, the chemical that gives cedar its resistance to decay. Cross-sections will be removed at 2 meter intervals along the bole. A total of ten individuals will be destructively sampled.
