Regional Races of Ponderosa Pine

Purpose

The area was planted to Ponderosa Pine from 10 regional seed sources in 1928. Measurements and plantations upkeep is done at 10 year intervals. The last mortality check was made in 1981 and another measurement is planned for 1986.

Impacts of alternative silvicultural systems on genetic diversity in Douglas-fir

Purpose

To study the genetic impacts of alternative silviculture systems. The intent is to sample foliage from overstory trees in each treatment of the Tappeiner/McComb Silviculture study. They would like to sample one treatment from each of the 3 stands. The

Regional Study: Air pollution measurements

Purpose

Tie measurements of of nitrogen and sulfer-containing air pollutants to ecological effects on forested ecosytems. This is a stepping stone to the development of a regional 'critical load' that can be used in regulatory decision-making arenas with regard t
