Air layering of Pacific Yew

Purpose

A small number (20-60) of vigorous Pacific Yew branches will be girdled about 12" from the end. Half will be randomly selected for treatment with "Rootone". Half will be left untreated. All will be packed with moist sphagnum moss and wrapped in plastic

Concentration of airborne microorganisms at various locations in Oregon

Purpose

Microbiological Pest Control Agents (MPCA's) are usually applied aerially and are later dispersed from deposition sited into the atmosphere. Air samples are being collected to evaluate the background bacterial load to establish a baseline concentration o

Relationships between chlorophyll, spectral vegetation indices, and photosynthetic potential on the Oregon Transect

Purpose

Construct a tower and analyze vertical variability in photosythetic capacity, chlorophyll, nitrogen, and specific leaf area at three points in time- May/June, September and mid-winter. An ultra-light airplane will fly over the site at this time to collec

Regional Study: Air pollution measurements

Purpose

Tie measurements of of nitrogen and sulfer-containing air pollutants to ecological effects on forested ecosytems. This is a stepping stone to the development of a regional 'critical load' that can be used in regulatory decision-making arenas with regard t
